UIC Barcelona, Spain

University

UIC is an international university located in Barcelona, in the heart of Catalonia province in northeastern Spain, on the Mediterranean Sea. Besides its great location this university offers both bachelor’s and master’s degree studies. You also can do a “Free mover” study abroad semester at UIC. Studies are held in English and Spanish, and part of the programs mixes both.

Barcelona is one of the biggest student communities in Europe. It consists of nearly 200,000 students and 12,500 professors. The atmosphere is naturally very student friendly. When you add 2,000 years of history and culture, Mediterranean climate, and cosmopolitan life along with beaches, sporting events and big “fiestas,” it is a guaranteed recipe for an unforgettable life experience.

Study modules in UIC Barcelona have clear objectives based on the following principles:

Teaching based on individuality: Teaching is organized so there is 1 professor to every 11 students, and lectures have a maximum of 80 students per class. Professors also aim at actively guiding and providing help for students outside of the lectures.

Practical experience: At UIC about 40 percent of the study lectures are based on practical learning. The majority of the professors also have practical experience in their fields. The university also maintains close relationships with the corporate world and this provides many internship opportunities for students.

Internationality: Like the university’s Spanish name “Universitat Internacional de Catalunya” hints, internationality is one of the university’s cornerstones. Ten percent of all students come from outside of Spain and the majority of them study in English. Students can also take advantage of the university’s large exchange location network.

Good life: The UIC organises a wide range of cultural, recreational and sport activities in an attempt to encourage the full personal development of students.

UIC recommends students to budget minimum of 800 euros per month for living. As an example the rent for a bedsit is about 300 – 500 €/month. University provides help to students regarding finding an apartment.

Free mover exchange semester

The programme for visiting students at UIC is open to all who want to undertake studies over one semester or an entire academic year in a faculty in the UIC. Normally students will study one or two semesters and receive credits for those classes. For students making this kind of “Free mover” exchange from their home university to UIC, it’s the students’ responsibility to make sure the home university will count the credits toward their degree.

Students will pay the full price per credit for the subjects they would like to take at UIC (this price differs depending on the degree programme). You can ask us for more information about prices for subjects you want to study or visit UIC’s websites.
