Humboldt State University is located in the city of Arcata in the northern part of California. Arcata is located about 5 hours north of San Francisco and is commonly known as one of West Coast’s best college towns. In addition, the area is famous for its unique natural environment from enormous mountains to beautiful beaches.

Humboldt State University is one of California’s 23 state universities and is considered one of West Coast’s cost-efficient universities. Students can choose from almost 50 bachelor’s degree options and 11 master’s degree options, giving students a wide variety to choose from. Especially famous are the school’s natural resource and science degrees. In addition, HSU offers students the opportunity for practical experience at the school’s performance and energy research laboratories.

HSU offers a “Free Mover” study abroad program for students looking to study in California for one or two semesters. The program is called HSU Study California, where students have more than 100 options from which to choose their studies. Both bachelor’s and master’s level courses are offered. Application deadlines are June 1st for the fall semester and November 1st for the spring semester.

Outside the classroom students have opportunities to enjoy the nature of northern California, NCAA Division II sporting events and the school’s more than 180 student activity clubs and organizations that are open to all students.
